Our Vision | Airshow Season Wrap-up

"One Final HOORAH!"

In 2023, the idea for an unforgettable aviation event was conceived. For those familiar with the aviation world, names like Oshkosh (AirVenture), Sun 'N Fun, and Triple Tree are instantly recognizable as some of the most notable events in the US during “Show Season.” These events feature airshows, fly-ins, convention exhibitions, and attract countless attendees each year. The COVID-19 pandemic significantly impacted aviation events nationwide, causing some to close temporarily or even permanently. However, with the resurgence of festivals and events, airshows and similar aviation gatherings have become highly sought-after attractions for people and families of all ages. This is how Sky High was born.

Sky High will be an annual event at the Laurinburg-Maxton Airport, featuring an airshow, fly-in, camping, and much more. We chose the latter part of the year to offer attendees a unique experience compared to typical airshows. The September/October timeframe provides pleasantly warm days and cool nights, perfect for bonfires, enhancing our camping opportunities.

For those unaware, Sun 'N Fun is known as “The Start of Airshow Season,” while Oshkosh takes place in the heart of summer. At Sky High, we aim to be the event that “Wraps Up Airshow Season.” We want our event to be the final must-see show of the year, just before the cold sets in and the holiday season begins. Our goal is to offer a “fall-themed” experience unlike any other similar event in the country.
